⚪ White Plates
White plates with black letters are the standard plates used for:
- Private cars
- Motorcycles
- Vans
- Trucks
- Most vehicles registered in Poland
This is the most common type of license plate.
🟡 Yellow Plates
Yellow plates are issued for historic (classic) vehicles.
To qualify, a vehicle generally must:
- Meet the legal requirements for historic registration
- Be entered into the register of historic vehicles or satisfy other legal criteria
Historic vehicles have different inspection rules and certain registration benefits.
🟢 Green Plates
Green plates are issued only to electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
They help identify zero-emission vehicles and may provide access to local benefits such as bus lanes or free parking, depending on the city’s regulations.
🔴 Red Plates
Red plates with white characters are temporary registration plates.
They are used when:
- A vehicle has just been purchased
- A vehicle is being imported
- Registration is still in progress
- The vehicle needs to be transported legally before permanent registration
Temporary plates are valid only for a limited period.
🔵 Blue Plates
Blue plates are used for:
